Elena Foster
Curiosity has guided much of Elena Foster's life. It has led her across disciplines, always seeking new perspectives and unexpected conversations.
“I need to know, and I need to know as much as possible about everything”
In 1996, she founded Ivorypress in Madrid. What began as a small publishing house has gradually over time evolved into a thriving cultural platform, bringing together books, exhibitions, artists, architects.
”I have the inner belief that I can get what I want. The only thing I need is to work hard”
We met Elena shortly after the opening of Orfila 5, Ivorypress's new home in Madrid. Books were still finding their place on the shelves, visitors wandered through the space for the first time, and discussions had already begun to flow.
Throughout our conversation, Elena returned to the importance of rituals — not as routines, but as moments of connection. A reminder that the spaces we create are shaped not only by what happens within them, but by the relationships they hold.
”When you do things with openness, generosity of the soul, and feelings, everything grows organically.”
Rituals
We seek inspiration both within and outside our field, collaborating with talented creatives who share our drive, passion, and curiosity about various aspects of life. Each of these connections, however fleeting, has shaped how we create and share coffee experiences.
Rituals is our tribute to these connections, a virtual journal that captures the ephemeral moments where everything clicks, where a vision is sparked, and the perspective shifts. It’s a memoir in constant motion, where each new notion glints in the glow of all that came before.
With Rituals, we celebrate the people and places that inspire us, set amidst the vibrant cities that breathe life into their work.
