In this month’s delivery
This month we’re welcoming some fresh releases from the Santa Barbara region of Honduras.
We have visited the region several times now, meeting each of the producers we purchase from. There are many challenges that come with producing coffee in Santa Barbara; the conditions here lead to a harvest almost two months later than much of Honduras
Sagastume
Both of this month’s coffees were produced by the Sagastume family, one native Honduran Parainema varietal, and one SL28, the iconic varietal originating from Kenya.
Washed Parainema
The Parainema has a fresh and bright profile with aromatic citrus and crisp redcurrant notes.
Washed SL28
The SL28 is juicy and intensely berry-like, showcasing bright blackberry and caramel.

Last month’s subscription were focused around on one of coffee’s most iconic varietals, SL28.
SL28 was originally selected for drought resistance in 1930’s Kenya, from a selection of Tanzanian Bourbon seeds. Last month’s peaberry selection from Kiamugumo had notes reminiscent of fresh redcurrant, rich brown sugar and black tea. Across the coffee belt, in Costa Rica, we shared a SL28 from Don Joel with notes also driven by the varietal, reminiscent of the Kenyan profile, with crisp red berries and a deeper molasses sweetness.
