This month we are sharing two contrasting examples of modern Colombian coffee. These coffees have been produced in contrasting regions of Colombia, in contrasting styles, but both reflect the modern Colombian coffee movement.
Jeison Liban López of El Estoraque is based in the Nariño region, while Jorge Vásquez is based in Tolima.
El Estoraque
Jeison’s careful fermentation at El Estoraque translates the potential of Nariño cherries into a bright and complex profile, with notes of tropical mango and a crisp red berry acidity.
Jorge Vásquez
Jorge Vásquez has produced a rich and complex example of the Typica varietal, with ripe fruit rounded out by dark chocolate and a subtle hibiscus floral finish.

Huehuetenango, a beautiful and isolated region in the north of Guatemala near the Mexican border, revealed huge variance in both everyday realities and the resulting coffee profiles.
