    Espresso cup

Together with our long term collaborators from K.H. Würtz, we have created an espresso cup that enhances the flavour and texture of our espresso.

The initial discussions about this design started all the way back in 2017, when our barista Sonja Zweidick won the Danish Barista Championship with a very similar design of espresso cup.

Since then, the design has been iterated and now put into production. The shape of the lip has been designed to lead the espresso further back on the tongue, giving a fuller experience in both flavour and texture.

    Reduction

Kasper and his team have created bespoke burners in order to eliminate oxygen in the kiln. This means that metal oxides in the clay are transformed to their reduced metallic state during firing, a simple and ancient method to create a beautiful and modern aesthetic.

The collaboration between K.H. Würtz and La Cabra has resulted in a ceramic coffee cup that reflects our shared appreciation for traditional craftsmanship. K.H. Würtz is comprised of Kasper Würtz, and his team who have devoted considerable time and attention to becoming skilled ceramicists since the 1970s. Drawing on these decades of experience, the team sets out to produce beautiful hand-crafted ceramic pieces in in their studio in Horsens, Denmark.

Each of these pieces, as well as the rest of the Würtz range, are still handmade in Denmark by Kasper and his team in Horsens. Over the past six years the Würtz family has supplied our cafés with ceramics, a commitment to our belief that small details can elevate an experience. We are of the opinion that Kasper's beautiful ceramics can do just that in our cafes, and proudly use them in our locations in Aarhus alongside a few cherished partners around the world.
